When the Girls Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay outgrew their location, they selected a site in Newark where they would build their new $6.5 million home and planned accordingly, designing a functional, multi-purpose building—a place they could build and move into without incident. What they found was that some things are easier said than done! CEO Anne T. Hogan and Project Manager Lynn Williams will share with us the complicated tale of nearly 6 years of site selection, permitting challenges, and gaining occupancy of their new site. Their building, now 2 years old, is sensitive to neighbors, traffic, and the environment, and is used for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics programs. This meeting may serve as a cautionary tale for some and a familiar scenario for others, but a fascinating review for all of us!
